The BeeGees

Graham Bellairs and Bernadette Crehan, who met through an Americorps VISTA program, decided to stay in Columbia for an extra year after falling in love with their jobs at the Columbia Center for Urban Agriculture. The non-profit organization provides hands-on experiences for community members to learn about agriculture and offers assistance for those interested in growing their own food. It also offers an alternative work setting for veterans who do not want to work at the local veterans' hospital.

Through their experiences at CCUA, Bellairs and Crehan gained independence by starting their own home garden and learned how to source food in a way that feels ethical.
